In this course, you will learn the basics of playing the guitar and get up to speed very quickly with the help of weekly live lessons and guidance from your instructor. The course covers all the fundamentals of guitar playing such as the organisation of the fretboard, correct technique, finger exercises, scales, chords, and practical application of these to play popular songs, with step by step guidance from your instructor. You will also interact and collaborate with your peers who are taking the course with you, and the course gives you an excellent opportunity to connect and network with other aspiring musicians like you.

Topics
Session 1: Introduction To Guitar
In this lesson, you will learn about the different parts of the guitar, how to hold the guitar, and how to play with correct posture and technique. You will also learn how to play the intro and verse chords of Demons by Imagine Dragons and finally, the lesson will end with a finger exercise to improve your mobility on the fretboard.
Session 2: Notes On The Fretboard
In this lesson, you will learn about the different notes on the guitar and the concept of a tone and a semi-tone. You will also learn the chords of the bridge and soft-chorus of the song learned in the previous lesson.
Session 3: Introduction - Note Values, CAGED System And Demons Chorus
In this lesson, you will learn about the different note values in music. You will also learn how to play open chords on the guitar, using the CAGED system.
Session 4: C major Scale and Sight Reading
In this lesson, you will learn how to play the C major scale and how to read notes of the open strings of the guitar.
Session 5: Major Scale Construction
In this lesson, you will learn how to form a major scale on the guitar and play the C major scale using 8th notes. You will also learn to sight read in C major open position.
Session 6: Song Performance Study - 1
In this lesson, you will learn how to play the verse of a song, paying attention to the strumming style. You will also work on sight-reading exercises in the key of C major.
Session 7: Song Performance Study - 2
In this lesson, you will learn the chorus chords of Yellow by Coldplay . You will also work on sight reading an 8 bars long melody in the key of C major. You will additionally work on practising the C major scale and the chromatic scale at a faster tempo.
Session 8: Introduction to Barre Chords
In this lesson, you will learn to form and play barre chords on the guitar.

- Acoustic or electric guitar and guitar picks

- Manuscript paper (if you do not have access to this, you may draw staff lines on a plain paper)
