Introduction to Piano for Singers. Tips & tricks.
Session 2: Keys Foundation for Singers I
We’re kicking off this course by getting to know the grand staff notation system (treble and bass clef). What can seem scary at first is really just a system for clear musical communication and will make your life as a singer a lot easier.
Session 3: Keys Foundation For Singers II
To accompany yourself on the piano while singing, we will start by getting an overview of all musical intervals. We will then take a closer look at the major and minor 3rd: the basic kit for building any chord.
Session 4: Accompany Yourself I
Let's sing AND play now! We will study the recipe to play any major and minor chord and learn a song
Session 5: Accompany Yourself II
Let's get to know the juicy chords that will make your songs stand out and have a look at other types of triads. We will then sing and play a number of well-known songs that make use of them.
Session 6: The Rhythm Lab
As a singer, rhythm is no less than 50% of your skill! We will look at time signatures, bars, and measures and common song forms by checking out a number of well known songs. This will help you be an independent singer and prepare and read sheet music by yourself.
Session 7: Play Those Songs
After this session, you're going to be able to play and sing loads of your favourite songs! A large number of popular songs are based on the same few chord progressions, which we will check out.
Session 8: A Leading Singer
Know how to find the right key for you, so you always sound your best while singing! Be an independent singer that can lead a band with ease. Let’s write things down and make basic chord sheets for the songs you want to play!
Session 9: Getting That Groove
For performing your songs, let’s look at some simple ways of making your piano playing sound cool and groovy. We will explore how to play the same single song in several different ways, using a variety of rhythmic patterns for accompaniment.
Session 10: The Composition Lab
Let’s bring out the singer/songwriter in you! We will mix up what we’ve learnt about chords, song form, and groove now and compose the base of a song.
Session 11: In Concert
Get ready for the stage: let's put all of our new chops together and apply them. We will build the content for a beautiful performance!
